MEET PAUL

Paul VanderVelde brings decades of nonprofit leadership experience to Focused Interruption, most recently serving as Chief Operating Officer for the YMCA of Dane County.

​

Over his 25 years with the YMCA, Paul oversaw major program growth, multimillion-dollar budgets, and community partnerships that expanded child care, youth development, and family support services across Dane County.

​

He also consulted with the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County, providing leadership for grant compliance and workforce development initiatives.

​

A lifelong advocate for mentorship and community connection, Paul now uses his experience in organizational development and collaboration to strengthen Focused Interruption’s operations and support its mission to heal trauma and interrupt cycles of violence in Madison.

MISSION

Our mission is to address and reduce generational trauma caused by gun violence through a comprehensive approach. We focus on delivering evidence-based intervention and prevention services tailored to the needs of the individuals, neighborhoods, and families most impacted by gun violence. By integrating these services, we aim to foster healing and resilience in communities, empowering them to break the cycle of violence and trauma.
